This is a story of how AAL dominated a tournament, and almost died before getting there... enjoy!
The day of the tournament, we were going to get there early to help set up... but Phoenix traffic had other plans. When i say that was the most stressful drive of my life, I mean it, and I wasn't even the one driving. There were slowdowns, crashes, and idiots on the road. It was even more packed the closer we got to the fairgrounds. On top of pre tournament adrenalin, my mom and I were around 200bpm when we pulled up to the fair. We got there late, so everything was already set up, but we brought a warm up table, so we weren't complete failures at helping.
Before the tournament started, we got to meet Juggernaut, (King Of Arizona, Right Hand) and I have never met a nicer person.
Once the tournament started, they called up the lightweight 165 category (I was pulling in teens and men's). And guess who I pull first? If you guessed Joseph Meranto, you are correct (he is Arizona lightweight champ). So I lost miserably to him, but sort of redeemed myself by getting 4th in men's.
In the teen division, I got first place on right, and 3rd on left. Max on the other hand got 2nd place on both hands, so overall he did great. Max didn't pull in men's because his supermatch opponent is in his weight class, and doesn't want to spoil the match on November 23rd (I have no doubt that he could have upset the men's class pretty bad on left).
My Mother (Britney Field) got first place on both hands in woman's! Virtually no one got a stop on her, so we are super proud.
Finally, the icing on the cake, Kaleb got his first tournament win! He finished the match in his signature hammer press which he later named "The Broken Odds Press."
Thank you so much to all that helped organize and host that great event, we hope to see you next year!
